Celebrating 10 Years

The Tandana Foundation is turning 10 this year! To commemorate the start of our nonprofit status and celebrate a decade of "Joining Hands and Changing Lives" in Ecuador and Mali, we've launched a year-long campaign on that theme.

"Ten Years of Joining Hands and Changing Lives"  highlights what is most important to Tandana: relationships. Forging positive relationships is at the heart of our international volunteer programs and community initiatives as well as our school scholarship fund. These opportunities to live, labor, and laugh with people of diverse cultural backgrounds broadens our worldviews, strengthens our communities, and propels us all toward our potential—not as isolated individuals but as globally interdependent ones. In this way, our ability to change lives is amplified exponentially.

We'll be engaged in many activities this year to recognize all the relationships that have gone into making Tandana a success for these past ten years...and to ensure our success will continue to grow for many years to come. Keep checking the tabs below as we add stories from our blog and outside media, information about celebrations, and special opportunities to reaffirm your relationship with Tandana.

Stories

Friends Share 10 Years of Stories on Tandana's Blog

We all love a good story. So we've been asking individuals who have been involved with Tandana over the past 10 years to share their stories, including favorite memories and what Tandana has meant to them.  The first stories are starting to appear on our blog, and you can read them by following the links below.  If you have a story to tell, please contact our public relations specialist, Susan Koller, at susan@tandanafoundation.org.

Outside Media Coverage of Tandana's 10-year Anniversary

We are so happy about celebrating 10 years, we want to spread the news to everyone. Thanks to outside media outlets, this is possible. We'll post newspaper articles and external blog posts here as they appear so you can follow along. If you're a journalist or editor and would like to write about Tandana, you can contact our our public relations specialist, Susan Koller, at susan@tandanafoundation.org for assistance.  Or if you just want to help get the word out, you can write letters to the editor of your local newspaper and of course publish on social media. Global House Parties

 Let's Celebrate!

We want to have a party to celebrate our 10-year anniversary in November, and we hope you'll join us! But since Tandana friends are flung all over the world, one big party just won't work. So instead, we're proposing a network of "global house parties" hosted by any friend of Tandana who is inspired to do so. These parties can bring together Tandana folks in the area and/or help us make new friends.  They can be big or small, public or private, potluck or catered, at home or in a park...whatever sounds good to you. But don't worry, you won't have to do all the planning yourself.  Download the house party guide below. Questions or ideas? Contact Anna Taft at anna@tandanafoundation.org.

Anniversary Giving

 Tandana's Next 10 Years

Tandana's 10-year anniversary is a fitting time not only to reflect on our past, but to look ahead, to imagine what Tandana can be and do in the next 10 years.  At such times, organizations often talk about "scaling up." They want to replicate their model in many new areas, to reach as many beneficiaries as possible--as quickly as possible.  Tandana is like any other organization that wants to improve its impact, but because the key to our success is real, respectful, long-term relationships, we balk at the idea of quick expansion.  Therefore, we intend to put our efforts into building up the foundation that already exists, for the sake of strength and sustainability, not scale. We mean building literally--our own offices in Ecuador and Mali, as well as figuratively--enriching the personnel and resources that provide support for our programs. We're in the process of developing this plan, and we're going to need your help. In the coming months, we'll announce the details of Tandana's capital campaign as well as new programs for monthly and legacy giving. We hope these new opportunities will allow you reaffirm your relationship with Tandana--we wouldn't have made it this far without you.
